Arabic Department

Department of Arabic organised an Online Programme of the One Month Extension Lecture Series on the topic" A Practical  Approach to the Arabic Language & Translation" on 29.6.21.
The Guest Speaker was Dr. Zar Nigar, Assistant Professor, Dept.of Arabic, Centre of Arabic & African Studies, JNU,  New Delhi.

Dr. Aisha Qudsi Qidwai, Assistant Professor, Department of Arabic was the coordinator of the program. Dr. Zar Nigar's in her Keynote address enlightened the listeners about the growing importance of Arabic as a language and guided them on the practical aspects involved in its translation. Faculty members and students enjoyed this enlightening programme which greatly enhanced their knowledge.








English Department


In response to the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai the English Dept. organized a Seminar “How terrorism can be eradicated?”.

One of the participants. Asia Arif of BA1 said that terrorism can be countered by modernization of intelligence systems, by education, by the positive role of the media, the government and public working towards a common goal.

Dr. S. Taj Bano, Head Eng. Dept. concluded the seminar on the time tested proverb “United we stand……”. She also laid emphasis on removing prejudices and developing an understanding with other communities.


Celebrating the Breast Cancer Awareness month this October, Vatslaya (NGO) in collaboration with Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G. College, Lucknow, organised an online Lecture, "An Awareness on Breast Cancer Prevention" on 21.10.2021. Mrs.Saher Husain, Principal Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G.College, Lucknow and Dr.Neelam Singh, leading Gynaecologist and Chief Functionary Vatsalaya, shared very relevant information on keeping Breast Cancer at bay. This was organised by NSS officers and members of the Health Club.









A Tree Plantation cum Cleanliness Drive was undertaken  by the National Service Scheme at Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G.College, Lucknow on 9.10.2021. Neembu, Karaunda, Guava, Rose, Harsinghar, Seasonal plants and Bela were planted on different places on the campus. This was carried on keeping in view the clean and green environment as per the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The Principal, Mrs.Saher Hussain, NSS officers Dr.Ayesha A.Warsi, Dr.Saima Rafat and Dr.Naghma Sultan along with other staff members and students remained actively present.











Organised a programme on Gandhi Jayanti, to commemorate the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This was conducted under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The programme was coordinated by the National Service Scheme and Chauri- Chaura committee.








A closing ceremony of Poshan Maah was organised by conducting a Nutrition Awareness Rally at Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G.College, Lucknow, on 30.9.21.






Mission Pink Health Camp


In view of the Poshan Maah(1.9.21 to 30.9.21), The National Service Scheme and Health Club in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association, Lucknow organised a Health Camp. This was done under Mission Pink Health, a Community Health Project for Adolescent on 29.9.21.






A Programme on NSS Foundation Day was organised under the able guidance of the principal, Mrs.Saher Hussain, at Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G.College, Lucknow, today on 24.9.21. The NSS programme officers Dr.Ayesha A.Warsi, Dr.Saima Rafat and Dr.Naghma Sultan highlighted the aims and objectives of NSS through an interface with the students. The NSS volunteers came up with the NSS song "Swayam Samaaj ke liye uthe uthe". This helped inculcating the values and spirit of NSS in the students.

National Services Scheme - Special Camp



The NSS Coordinators Mrs. Seema Aquil, Mrs. Nageen Ahmed and Dr. Yasmeen Rehana  organized a special camp at Takia Nishatganj , for  the three NSS Units of the College, 9-15 Feb 2011.

The Volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive and talked to the residents of the basti on the importance of education. The invited guests to the camp venue were Ms.Surayia Kidwai who held an embroidery competition, Dr.Ritu Varshney talked on Acupressure and Mr. A.K. Dixit discussed Legal Issues with the Volunteers.

Gender issues were taken up by members of Sajhi Duniya in an interactive session with the students the NSS programme Coordinator of Lucknow University, Dr.Sushma Mishra was Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony. She lauded the efforts of the volunteers and asked them to develop Community Service as a habit to be carried out even after passing out from the College.

Karamat College Hosts a Zonal Seminar

The Committee on Girls’ Education organized a Zonal Seminar on “Empowerment of Minority Girls Through Education” on 15 Feb 2011. The Chief Guest For the occasion was Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.S.A. Siddiqui, Chairman, National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions New Delhi.

His address focused on some serious issues of how to reduce drop out rates in schools and to adopt suitable measures to attract minority girls towards education.

Dr. Mohinder Singh and Dr. Cyriac Thomas, Members of the Commission were Guest of Honour. The Function was organized at the Auditorium of the B.Ed. Dept. and Syed Shuaib Ahmed Saheb, Manager of the College was Convenor of the Seminar. Dr. Shabistan Gaffar, Chairperson of the Committee gave a report on the work done by the Committee since its inception in 2007.

Dr. Qamar Rehman, Member of the Committee, in her Keynote Address, talked of the need of imparting Technical Education to Minority Girls. Prof. Roop Rekha Verma, former VC, Lucknow University supported the issue of educating the girl child by quoting from a letter in the State Archives written by Justice Syed Karamat Husain, Founder of the College “Latest modern education should be given to women”.

Farewell Party of Ms.Qudsia Parveen (20.09.1990- 30.06.2021) former Officiating Principal and Head Deptt. of History.






Like all other years this year also the farewell party for the B.A and B.Com third year students was organised by the cultural committee of the college in March 2020. As per the tradition of the college the program started with Dua. The second year students presented various cultural programs for the outgoing students of B.A and B.Com 3rd year. Cultural program included poems, songs, gazal, skit, group and solo dances. A display of self design dresses was also part of the program in which girls of fashion designing course run by Carrier Council and Placement cell of college took part. The highlight of the event was the Miss Karamat title which was won by Sadiya Khatoon, Sonnpriya and Nancy Tamarkar stood second and third runner up. Students who had obtained highest marks in their respective subjects in B.A second year were awarded with certificates and medals.

Student (Alumina of the college) Miss Arshiya Parveen was an outstanding chief guest of the program. She shared her experiences with the students and encourage them to do good in life. The program concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the respected Principal of the College Ms. Qudsia Parveen.





Farewells were organized by the juniors for their outgoing seniors.
The functions were organized in February in the College Hostel and the Faculty of Science. The Dept. of English and the Faculty of Arts held theirs in the first week of March.

This was a time for nostalgia, for fun and for serious introspection. Special recognition was given to students who displayed wit, confidence and intelligence and had good academic records as well - Towheed of Sem IV, M.A. English; Afiya Siddiqui of B.A.III; Hina Iqbal and Ruqayya Fatma of B.S.c. III; and Fehmina of B.Ed.


The Annual Award Function for the session 2019-20 was organised today on 23.10.21 at Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' P.G.College, Lucknow. The Chief Guest and College Principal, Mrs.Saher Hussain addressed the students with her encouraging words and felicitated the awardees.
Archana Rawat of B.AIII won the Governor's Running Trophy and was also awarded the Nasreen Ahmed Memorial Gold Medal for obtaining the highest marks in Medieval and Modern History in the college. Tarannum Fatima, Ayushi Pandey and Shazia Asgar of B.AII; Kajal Yadav, Humaira Salmani and Ruchi Yadav of B.AI, were awarded the Dr. Nasreen Ahmed Memorial Scholarship for obtaining the highest marks in the college in B.AII and B.AI respectively. Sadiya Khatoon of B.AIII was awarded the Umme Habiba Memorial Gold Medal and Scholarship, and also Prof. Shamim Nikhat Memorial Urdu Gold Medal and Scholarship for securing the highest marks in Urdu in B.AIII in the college. Iqra Rizwan Warsi of B.AI and Mariya Khatoon of B.A. II were awarded the Prof. Shamim Nikhat Memorial Urdu Scholarship and Begum Nuzhat Kidwai Memorial Scholarship for securing the highest marks in Urdu  in B.AI and B.AII in the college. Tanzina Khan was awarded Laiqun Nissan Shafiq Memorial Gold Medal for being the meritorious student in the B.Ed Department.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr.Shaheen F. Khan.














Our Gold Medal Winners

Arshiya Parveen of M.A. English (2016-2018) won the following Gold Medals at the Lucknow University Convocation held on 15.10.19. 

The White Memorial Gold Medal for being the best M.A. (I to IV Semester) student of the Canning College in English for 2019.

Smt. Krishna Saxena Memorial Gold Medal for securing first position at M.A. Final (I to IV Semester) Examination in English for 2019.

Manju Gold Medal for obtaining the highest aggregate marks to the girl student at the combined results of M.A. Part I and Part II (I to IV Semester) Examination in English-2019.

Smt. Dayamoyee Sharma Memorial Gold Medal for obtaining the highest percentage of marks in the combined result of M.A. Part I and Part II (I to IV Semester) Examination in English-2019.

Soniya Gupta(B.Com I, 2018-2019) was awarded the R.B. Trilok Nath Gold Medal for securing the highest percentage of marks in B.Com First Year (Semester I and II) in 2019.

Annual Award Function

The Annual Award Function for the session 2017-2018 was held on 23.7.19. The following students were felicitated. 

The Governor’s Running Trophy and Nasreen Ahmad Memorial Gold Medal were awarded to Mirza Husn Bano for obtaining the highest percentage of marks in Medieval and Modern History in B.A. III in the College.

Umama Kidwai was awarded the Laiqun Nissan Shafiq Memorial Gold Medal for being the meritorious student in the B.Ed Dept. in the College.

Shikha Yadav, Neelam Bharti and Jyoti Verma of B.A. II and Pooja Yadav, Archana Rawat and Samreen of B.A. I won the Dr. 
Nasreen Ahmed Memorial Scholarship for obtaining the highest marks in History in B.A.II and B.A. I in the College.

The Umme Habiba Memorial Urdu Gold Medal and Prof. Shamim Nikhat Memorial Urdu Gold Medal were awarded to Aisha Ghazala for securing the highest marks in Urdu in B.A.III in the College and University of lucknow, Lucknow.

Samreen Bano (B.A.I) and Shawana Khaleel (B.A.II) were awarded the Prof.Shamim Nikhat Memorial Scholarship and Begum 

Nuzhat Kidwai Memorial Scholarship for obtaining the highest marks in Urdu in B.A. I and II in the College.
Sports Award sponsored by Nafeesa Ahmad was won by Salma Bano, Mansi Rawat and Mahima Rawat.

 

Dr. Nasreen Ahmed Memorial Gold Medal and Scholarship Award

To promote Excellence in Education, the award was initiated by Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed, DGP, IPS, in fond memory of his wife, late Dr. Nasreen Ahmed. At a grand Award Ceremony organized by the College on 9 Dec, 2010 Syed Shuaib Ahmad Saheb, Manager of the College presented a ‘Sipasnama’ to H.E. Sri. B.L. Joshi, Governor, Uttar Pradesh.

The main awards ceremony consisted of the presentation of a gold medal to Km. Garima B.A. III for achieving highest marks in History in the College and in Lucknow University.

Scholarship were awarded to meritorious students Farah Naaz, Deepti Tripathi, Arti Lodhi of B.A. l, and to Sushma Kureel, Soni Singh, and Shweeta Srivastava of B.A.II. Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed presented a set of History books to the College Library. Prof. M.K. Mishra, VC, Lucknow University, congratulated the girls on their achievements and H.E. Sri B.L. Joshi appreciated the College for its record of academic excellence and called it “One of the Best College of UP.” He also made a special announcement to create a Running Shield for the final – year student who secures the highest marks in History in the final year. Dr. J.F. Shaukat, Principal of the College proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Karamat Husain Muslim Girls P.G College Lucknow, organized Dr. Nasreen Ahmed Memorial Gold Medal Award Ceremony on 25th Jan 2016. The Principal of the College, Dr. Noor Khan welcomed the guests, Padmashree Ms. Parveen Talha, Mr.Mumtaz Ahmed,IPS,Retd, and Dr. Sultana Ahmad, Former Head, Dept. of Education, I.T College, Lucknow.

The Award winning students were encouraged for their hard work and extraneous effort. Harshita Verma of B.A III was awarded the Governors Running Trophy and Gold Medal for obtaining the highest marks in Medieval and Modern History for the session 2014-2015. Priya Yadav, Shivani Awasthi, and Ritu Singh of B.A II, Khushboo Yadav, Sadiya Khatoon and Sayama Islam of B.A I, were awarded Scholarships in order of merit of their marks in History for the session 2014-2015.

The Chief Guest presented the Umme Habiba Memorial Gold Medal to Sayama Khatoon for securing highest marks in Urdu in B.A. and also gave away the award of Laiqun Nissan Shafiq Memorial Scholarship to Farah Hasan Syed for being the meritorious student in B.Ed. Dept. in the session 2014-2015. The Chief Guest, Padmashree Parveen Talha congratulated the award winning students with her encouraging words and motivated them to keep up with their performance by being sincere and committed to their studies. The vote of Thanks was delivered by the Principal, Dr. Noor Khan.

Award Ceremony 2015




Karamat Husain Muslim Girls P.G. College, Lucknow organized Dr. Nasreen Ahmad Gold Medal and Scholarship Award Ceremony on 16th Feb. 2015. The Principal, Dr. Noor Khan welcomed the Guest Dr. Sulaiman A. Rizvi, Associate Prof., and former Head, Dept. of Medieval and Modern Indian History, University of Lucknow.

Dr. S.A. Rizvi felicitated the award winning students and encouraged them for their hard work and consistently good academic record. Syeda Tooba Rasheedi was awarded the Governor's Running Trophy and Gold Medal by the Chief Guest for obtaining the highest marks in Medieval and Modern Indian History in B.A.III for the session 2013-2014 in the College. She was also awarded 3 Gold Medals at the Convocation held at University of Lucknow in 2014.

Harshita Verma, Arpita Singh, and Shalu Verma of B.A.II; Archana Yadav, Roli Verma, and Shailja Mishra of B.A.I were given Scholarships in order of merit for their marks in History in the College. Umme Habiba Memorial Urdu Gold Medal was awarded to Nahid Fatima for securing highest aggregate marks in Urdu in B.A. in the session 2013-2014. Sadaf Khan was awarded Laiqun Nissan Shafiq Memorial Scholarship for being a Meritorious Student in the B.Ed. Department again for the same session.

The Manager, Syed Shuaib Ahmad Saheb addressed the students and motivated them to keep up with their efforts by being sincere, regular, and committed to their studies. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Principal, Dr. Noor Khan.
